What is RoboMAC

RoboMAC is supposed to popularize robotics among students in the region and encourage other robotics projects. The main task of the project is to involve a group of students in creating scientific robots using off-the-shelf materials. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits of robotics and new developments in the field. RoboMAC is a new project in Macedonia and it is planned to continue and broaden the horizons in this exciting area. In this event are also included the students from the Faculty of EE and IT that are members of BEST-Skopje. People that benefit are the participants of the event and IEEE Societies in the region, as well as other persons interested in this field. Benefits from this project are: improved networking among students while exchanging experiences, working in teams in a competitive international environment, animate student's creativity, introducing IEEE to students as well as general public and benefits they can have as IEEE members. In Macedonia and neighboring countries commercial robotics is developed, but research and scientific robotics are unavailable to students. Practical work on robots is not very common on the faculties, so this is a chance for the students to work with robots and gain practical experience. For this event we are planning to have 30 foreign and 70 local students. Foreign students will be invited through both IEEE Region 8 SAC News Portal and BEST. Robotic Kits will be delivered from local suppliers. The assignments will vary and the possible disciplines are: mini-sumo, maze solving, swarm intelligence, humanoids, freestyle competition and advanced robot programming – simulations in Microsoft Robotics Studio. The web site will be maintained by IEEE SB Macedonia where all the information needed for the applicants will be available, it will contain some of the pre-required learning materials and there will be a forum for open discussion. After the completion of the event the materials and videos will be uploaded on Internet Archive and they will be available on the web site or www.IEEE.tv.
